AN ACCOMPLISHED PLASTIC SURGEON IN TAMPA

Dr. Buchanan is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and practices a wide range of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Buchanan is a renowned author, having been published in multiple textbooks and medical journals on topics ranging from facial cosmetic surgery and facial aging to body contouring and breast surgery.

TEACHING THE NEW GENERATION

After completing this rigorous training, Dr. Buchanan relocated to Spokane, Washington, where he practiced both reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery. During his four years there, he served as an associate clinical professor with the University of Washington School of Medicine, teaching the new generation of young doctors. He also received several accolades during his time there.

Dr. Buchanan was elected as a top 10 plastic surgeon in Washington by the American Institute of Plastic Surgeons for two years in a row (2017-2018). He was selected as RealSelf 500 Top Doctor in 2016 and RealSelf 100 Top Doctor in 2017. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society in 2018 for his commitment to scholarship, leadership, professionalism, and service. He relocated to Tampa Bay in 2018 to start his private practice.

In 2018, Dr. Buchanan relocated to Tampa Bay and founded VIVIFY plastic surgery. His practice now focuses on cosmetic plastic surgery of the face, breast, and body. Since moving to Florida, Dr. Buchanan has continued to accrue his accolades, being elected as a “Top 10 Plastic Surgeon” by both the American Institute of Plastic Surgeons and the National Academy of Plastic Surgeons every year from 2019-2023. He was featured in the “Top Docs” issues of both Tampa Magazine and Tampa Style Magazine in 2020 and 2021. Dr. Buchanan serves as a member of the Emerging Trends Committee for the ASPS to evaluate new trends in plastic surgery and educate other plastic surgeons. He is also a clinical educator for the University of Tampa PA Program.

Dr. Buchanan’s practice philosophy is boutique plastic surgery with a concierge approach. He spends his personal time with all new patients to assess each patient individually and then reviews in detail their specific goals and objectives. He then creates a unique treatment plan for each patient that may include surgical or non-surgical treatments. PERSONAL INTERESTS

Outside of practicing as a plastic surgeon in Tampa, Dr. Buchanan has a passion for animals. He and his wife have three rescue dogs of their own and also help support several local animal rescue organizations, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, the SPCA of Tampa Bay, and the Center for Great Apes. He is also a connoisseur of local craft beer and enjoys cooking and playing tennis.

BOARD CERTIFIED PLASTIC SURGEON IN TAMPA

Board-certified plastic surgeons have completed extensive training in both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, while a "cosmetic surgeon" may not have the same level of training. They have undergone a rigorous education and training program that includes at least six years of surgical training after medical school, with at least three years of plastic surgery residency training. Additionally, board-certified plastic surgeons have the experience and expertise to deliver high-quality results.

They have a deep understanding of the human body's anatomy and aesthetics, allowing them to create natural-looking results that enhance the patient's appearance. Dr. Buchanan is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies true plastic surgeons through a rigorous and lengthy process.
